RIP Carmine Infantino (1925-2013)
I’ve never actually read the end-run of Barry Allen by Cary Bates and Infantino, but I’ve always found these covers fascinating. There’s definitely something about masterful veterans getting to the point in their career where they are so secure in their craft it gives them license to get weird.
Several of these are inked by Klaus Janson; and it’s particularly striking on the downright Miller-y cover to 348. And I still believe that the cover to 338 was the inspiration for Frank Booth in Blue Velvet.
